The Malaysian Sai Council has been planning to launch a Sathya Sai Primary School for some time now. Careful planning and extensive fund raising amongst Sai devotees finally bore fruit when the Sai Primary School opened its doors on January 1st 2002. The School is located at the 6th ms. Jalan Puchong , in Kuala Lumpur and the building comprising 7 classrooms, a small field and canteen has been leased to the Sai Council by the Management of Pure Life Society(PLS), an organisation set up to look after destitute children and abused mothers.

This building was once used by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia for over 30 years and was returned to the PLS by the government in December 2000. Although it was in a dilapidated condition, the Sai Council agreed to take over the building for a nominal rental of RM1/- per year. In return we have given the undertaking to educate all the orphan children from the PLS free of charge. The Council spent a considerable amount of money to renovate the building and we have a delightful and homely Primary school. Initially we began with three classes, from Std.1-3 only and hope to grow gradually to cover Stds. 4-6 over the next three years. In this way we have a greater control in inculcating Sai values to the young minds under our care. Today we have an enrolment of 60 children, ( 15 from the PLS and the rest are made up of children of Sai devotees and others from the neighbouring community).

The School follows the Malaysian Primary school national curriculum with Malay as the medium of instruction. Additional subjects taught include, Tamil, Chinese, Telugu, Computer Literacy. Human Values are taught both as a formal subject, as an extra- curricular club activity and integrated in all aspects of the school both in and out of the classroom. Recently, the School separated 11 students from the three classes and began a special remedial programme for them due to neglect in their previous schools. No tuition fees are charged but the children pay a small sum of money for the vegetarian meals provided by Sai devotees during recess.

The Principal and Deputy are University graduates and retired from the Malaysian Education service, while the rest are retired Techer Training College graduates. The Human Values teacher is a committed Sai devotee and has followed the 10 weeks teacher training course at ISSE, Bangkok.
