Sathya Sai Institute in Mumbai, India

On January 9, 2000 the Indian Institute of Sathya Sai Education was established in Mumbai. The Institute is located at Dharmakshetra and supports and encourages all the work in Sathya Sai Education throughout India.

Aims of the Institute

- To propagate the ideals of Sathya Sai Education in primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, throughout India.
- To conduct research, to see the impact of Sathya Sai Education.
- To conduct training courses for teachers and administrators.
- To encourage the establishment of Sathya Sai Schools in different parts of India.
- To adopt schools that incorporated Sathya Sai Education into their curriculum.
- To produce new textbooks and materials for teachers, including audio-visual presentations for training.
- Translate existing materials into different Indian languages.

Work of the Institute

Teacher Orientation - Three-day Orientation Courses are organized for all teachers from local schools. At present thirty local schools have adopted the curriculum of Sathya Sai Education.

Research Study – A Research Study was conducted in eighteen of adopted schools to find out the impact of the program of Sathya Sai Education on students, teachers and parents of these schools. The Research Report was published in September 2000.

Orientation of Resource Persons – Three-day residential courses for teacher-trainers from all over India, are held in the Institute.

Schools outside Mumbai - Eleven schools from outside Mumbai have adopted the program of Sathya Sai Education.

Sri Sathya Sai Schools – A total of five Sathya Sai Schools are affliliated to the Institute under the SAI 2000 programme.

Large Scale project – In June 2001, the Institute was requested to train 2,800 primary school teachers and over 100 supervisory academic staff. Ten Courses, each of three day duration, were conducted, and so far 1,218 teachers and 32 supervisory staff have attended from 122 schools.

Other Projects

- Two diversified projects were undertaken by the Institute in order to reach profession groups with Sathya Sai Educate.
- A two-day Orientation Course was organized for 36 senior faculty members from six Medical Colleges in Mumbai. A basic text material was printed. The Colleges have planned to introduce the Value Inputs curriculum in the undergraduate medical courses from the current academic session.
- Two–day Orientation Courses were organized for middle and senior level corporate executives from three well known organizations in Mumbai. Course materials are being prepared.
